About the Author
Jayden Arnold is the Clinical Services Director at the Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy Group, supporting over 200 clinicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to thousands of patients across Queensland, Australia. Starting his career as a physiotherapist, he cultivated a passion for supporting fellow therapists to excel in their own practice, driving his passion for leadership and business development.
This case study forms part of the Practitioner’s Guide to Digital Health and outlines how the Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy Group implemented a centralized model to roll out digital health across 25 clinics.

Implementing Digital Health
With more than 200 practitioners across physiotherapy, exercise physiology, podiatry, remedial massage, dietetics and psychology, the Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy Group operates 25 private clinics across Queensland, Australia.
Digital health plays a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality care across all locations.
Digital health plays a key role in delivering consistent, high-quality care across all locations. Through the use of intuitive digital health tools, our physiotherapists can work more efficiently, providing better care with less time, effort and resources.
Multiple factors are considered when adopting digital health technology. Before implementing new systems, we ask ourselves the following:

Our exercise physiologists often encounter patients who are pain-free but not fully recovered. In these scenarios, providing an objective report of patient progress helps justify ongoing care to patients, employers or insurers. Systems like ForceDecks and DynaMo gave us clear, reliable data to ensure patients continue to receive the care they need.
We take a proactive approach to digital health implementation at Sports and Spinal, embedding systems such as ForceDecks and DynaMo across all sites, while slowly rolling out ForceFrame and HumanTrak in select clinics. Unlike the passive approach many organizations follow, our strategy guarantees that every patient and staff member has access to high-quality care, technology and evidence-based practices.
All technology decisions are made at the company level. Centralizing this process ensures continuity of care through proper evaluation at each clinic location.

Practice leaders within clinics are responsible for staff training and development, reinforcing best practice operations for new staff or members unfamiliar with assessment technology.
The Digital Health Impact
MoveHealth has quickly become one of the most impactful additions to our digital health ecosystem. Patients are now more engaged with their rehabilitation plans, accessing home exercise programs (HEPs), test results and progress summaries directly through the MoveHealth app.

This visibility has translated to measurable improvements in adherence and satisfaction. Patients can see their own progress – whether it is increased strength, enhanced movement quality or improved pain scores – reinforcing the value of continued care. For clinicians, MoveHealth ensures that results are documented, tracked and easily reviewed between visits, creating stronger alignment among patients, practitioners and the overall plan of care.
What to Consider When Adopting Digital Health Tools
We have encountered and learned a lot through trial and error over the years. While digital health platforms such as MoveHealth are simple to implement, managing change within a large clinic ecosystem will always present logistical challenges. When facilities reach out about adopting new digital tools, we often give them a few pieces of advice:
- Allow Plenty of Lead-In Time: Technology rollouts take longer than expected – especially in healthcare environments with complex workflows. Build in a buffer beyond your projected timeline for setup, stakeholder input, system integration and troubleshooting.
- Start with Champion Clinics and Users: Choose clinics most eager to adopt the platform and give them early access. This trial phase helps identify common issues – such as equipment setup, integration with practice software and patient interaction – before a full rollout. These early adopters also become internal advocates who can share their experiences and guide others.
- Invest Time in Training: Busy practitioners will not naturally adopt new technology without dedicated time and training. Without this, systems go unused. A large-scale investment only pays off if you also commit to properly training your team. To support this, we have drawn on VALD’s Resources, which have helped us build structured, repeatable training systems across all clinics.
- Provide Centralized Training for New Practitioners: Our HR team ensures that all new staff receive access to onboarding before day one. Once they start, they complete structured onboarding modules.

Tips to support successful technology adoption.
For example, we began using the program builder in VALD Hub to streamline exercise prescription across clinics. By having champion clinics create saved programs and favorite exercises within the platform, practitioners could prescribe HEPs faster and with improved quality.
We have also noticed that learning the systems and completing training often requires allocated time for self-directed learning. Finding the right balance between instructed time and “free exploration” optimizes the learning experience for the practitioners involved.

Key Takeaway
Thanks to these systems, we have been able to implement multiple digital health tools across our clinics. VALD’s exercise program builder has been very impactful, improving care quality and workflow efficiency.
